Nissan Leaf vs. Hyundai Ioniq

The automotive future has arrived with the new wave of electric vehicles for sale. Popular electric vehicle (EV) models like the Nissan Leaf deliver instant power, zero emissions, and a low ownership cost, making them a smart choice for the savvy car shopper. Comparing the Leaf to the competition, we’ll see how the Hyundai Ioniq stacks up against Nissan's popular EV. Driving Range The Nissan Leaf is one of the longest-running EVs on the road, offering an affordable and practical option for people wanting to drive a zero-emission vehicle. It was quietly strutting its kilowatts on the streets before any Tesla rolled out of the factory and showed an interest in EVs even though it sported a strange look and a short driving range. The current second-generation Leaf matured with more traditional styling and a more extended driving range. Engine Power Performance was not something most people looked in the EV segment for in its early years, but today’s EVs make great use of their instantly available torque and energy-dense batteries. Powering the Nissan Leaf is a 110 kW AC synchronous electric motor that provides up to 147 HP. The Hyundai Ioniq isn’t as potent as the Leaf, as it's electric motor cranks out 118 HP with an interior-permanent magnet synchronous motor. Both feature a single-speed transmission with front-wheel drive. Enjoy faster acceleration with the Leaf and 236 lb. ft of torque compared to 218 lb. ft of torque for the Ioniq. With just a bit of power, the Leaf wins on performance. A locking/limited slip differential is also standard on the Leaf while not available on the Ioniq.

Safety The Leaf and the Ioniq come equipped with conventional active and passive safety features such as traction control, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, and driver and passenger airbags. Look deeper, though, and you'll find that the 2020 Nissan LEAF holds the advantage in advanced safety features and driver-assistive technologies. For instance, Nissan's ProPILOT Assist with semi-autonomous driving capabilities and an Intelligent Around View Monitor are available and help drivers stay alert and focused yet relaxed at the wheel. Modern Comfort When it comes to interior comfort, the difference is in the details. For example, the Leaf offers carpeted floor mats while none are available with the Ioniq. More headroom means more room to move, and the Leaf wins again with 41.2 inches, whereas the Ioniq is just a little short with 39.1 inches. Both models include a stereo system, with the Leaf offering a CD player and MP3 player for additional entertainment options. Design Both the Leaf and Ioniq are concerned about function in the design of the models. They include available heated mirrors and intermittent windshield washers. As a bonus, the Leaf has rear windshield wipers as standard, while this feature isn’t available on the Hyundai model. Bring along more stuff because the Leaf offers more cargo space. Nissan Altima vs. Hyundai Sonata

Nissan has added another mid-size sedan to its 2022 lineup of cars – the 2022 Nissan Altima. A reliable vehicle like the Nissan Altima or the Hyundai Sonata offers something for all drivers. Both these midsize sedans are designed to provide a smooth, comfortable ride. This new sedan from Nissan features the world’s first available variable compression turbo engine to deliver power and efficiency on demand. It has a spacious trunk and an open interior that is comfortable and convenient. Are you intrigued to know how well the 2022 Nissan Altima performs when it is stacked against one of its competitors in the market? Performance and Capability The Nissan Altima offers a couple of sporty engines. First, a 2.5L 4-cylinder powertrain gets up to 188 horsepower. If you'd like a little more power under the hood, a turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine offers up to 248 horsepower. Both engines work with a quick-shifting Xtronic® continuously variable transmission. While this helps you enjoy a smooth ride, intelligent all-wheel drive is available to provide extra traction and stability. The Hyundai Sonata doesn't offer all-wheel drive. However, it does give you a choice between two engines. Unfortunately, they aren't quite as powerful. Its 1.6L 4-cylinder engine only gets up to 180 horsepower, while its 2.5L 4-cylinder powertrain delivers just 191 horsepower.

Source: Nissan and Hyundai Media

Safety Features The Nissan Altima also offers peace of mind with an intelligent design and driver-assistance features. It starts with front and rear crumple zones that can absorb energy during a collision. Inside, you'll be protected by ten airbags, including front and rear side-impact and roof-mounted side curtain airbags. Meanwhile, Nissan Safety Shield 360® can help prevent accidents. It gives you more awareness during your drive with intelligent technology, such as:

  • automatic braking safety
  • automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • rear automatic braking
  • rear cross-traffic alert
  • blind spot warning
  • lane departure warning

The Hyundai Sonata comes with some similar driver-assistance features. It does leave the interior a little more exposed, however. It wasn't designed with energy-absorbing crumple zones and only came with seven airbags. Infotainment System Both the Nissan Altima and the Hyundai Sonata come with an 8-inch touchscreen. Each system offers lots of smartphone compatibility, too. For example, you can connect your apps and use them while you drive with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto. You'll also be able to make hands-free calls and stream music with Bluetooth®. Nissan builds on these Bluetooth capabilities by including a SiriusXM radio and a hands-free text messaging assistant. You'll have lots of music at your fingertips and be able to reply to messages without taking your eyes off the road. While the Hyundai Sonata also comes with Bluetooth, it doesn't feature a text-messaging assistant. SiriusXM radio is available, but it's not offered on every trim level. Bottom Line on the Battle Between The Nissan Altima and Hyundai Sonata If you are looking for a practical, fuel-efficient midsize sedan that won't break the bank, the Nissan Altima should be at the top of your list. Nissan offers a highly efficient powertrain with impressive fuel economy, remote engine start, and AWD; all features Hyundai does not provide on the Sonata. Nissan Sentra vs. Kia Forte

There are many great cars on the market right now that shoppers will have to choose from, and two examples are the 2022 Kia Forte and the 2022 Nissan Sentra. These two compact sedans have a lot in common so some folks might have some issues choosing between the two. Engine The Sentra’s 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder produces two more horsepower (149 vs. 147) and 14 lbs.-ft. More torque (146 vs. 132) than Forte’s standard 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder. As tested in Motor Trend, the Nissan Sentra is faster than the Kia Forte 4-cylinder (automatic transmission tested): .7 seconds faster in the 0-60 test, .5 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile, and 2.4 MPH more quickly in the 1/4 mile. Environmental Friendliness In its Green Vehicle Guide, the EPA rated the Nissan Sentra higher (7 out of 10) than the Kia Forte (5 to 7). This means the Sentra produces up to 8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Forte every 15,000 miles.

Source: Nissan and kia Media

Suspension and Handling The Nissan Sentra has fully independent front and rear suspensions for superior ride and handling. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement without compromising ride comfort. The Forte has a rear torsion beam axle with a semi-independent rear suspension. For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Sentra is 1.1 inches wider in the front and .6 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Forte. The Sentra SR handles at .89 G’s, while the Forte pulls only .81 Gs of cornering force in a Motor Trend skid pad test. The Sentra SR executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Forte (27 seconds @ .63 average Gs vs. 27.7 seconds @ .61 average Gs). Ergonomics The Sentra driver’s power window opens or closes with one touch of the window control, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths. The Forte’s standard driver’s power window switch must be held the entire time to close it entirely. The Sentra’s speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so the driver doesn’t have to adjust the wipers' speed continually. The Forte’s manually variable intermittent wipers must be constantly changed. On frigid winter days, the Sentra SV/SR’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The Forte doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel. Reliability To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the Sentra has a standard 150-amp alternator. The Forte’s standard 120-amp alternator and largest (GT) 130-amp alternator aren’t as powerful. A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money, and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or without a car while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates Sentra’s reliability 38 points higher than the Forte. J.D. Power and Associates 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed and provided the statistics that show that Nissan vehicles are better in initial quality than Kia vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Nissan fifth in initial quality, above the industry average. With one more problem per 100 vehicles, Kia is ranked 6th. From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Nissan vehicles are more reliable than Kia vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Nissan 2 places higher in reliability than Kia. Nissan Versa Vs. Toyota Corolla

Car shoppers near El Paso and in the market for a new sedan should be introduced to the reliable and stylish 2022 Nissan Versa and the Toyota Corolla. You may ask yourself, “What are the differences between the Versa and Corolla?” The team at Charlie Clark Nissan is here to give you the inside scoop on what both the Nissan and the Toyota bring to the table.

Engine Performance

Both vehicles use a four-cylinder engine and offer a manual transmission or a CVT to send power to the front wheels only. With agile handling, impressive efficiency, and plenty of power to play with, Versa is ready to bring it to the streets. Versa handling makes every ride memorable thanks to a stiff rear suspension, rigid chassis, and responsive steering.

Fuel Economy

You’ll save money in another way with the Nissan Versa: in fuel economy. Thanks to its continuously variable transmission (CVT), the Versa gets a combined 35 miles to the gallon, averaging 40 highway miles per gallon. Get used to flying by gas stations. Meanwhile, the Toyota Corolla sedan gets a combined rating of only 32 miles to the gallon, getting 36 highway mpg, which is impressive but not quite as good.

Source: Nissan and Toyota Media

Environmentally Friendly

In addition to its superior fuel economy, the 2022 Nissan Versa is rated as healthier for the environment than the Toyota Corolla. The EPA rates the Versa 7 out of 10 in its Green Vehicle Guide. The Corolla, on the other hand, merely scores a 5. This means the Versa pumps out up to 8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Corolla every 15,000 miles. This environmental consciousness gets the Nissan Versa the designation of a Super-Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (SULEV) from the EPA. The Toyota Corolla, for its part, is classified as an Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV).

Interior Space

The Corolla is only a few inches longer than the Versa, but the Nissan makes up for it by being slightly taller. Interior space gets traded between both depending on the specific area we’re talking about. The Corolla has more room in its second row, while the Versa is more spacious up front and in the trunk… where it counts!

It shouldn’t have turned out this way, considering the Versa is a subcompact sedan, and the Corolla is a compact. But the smaller car has a bigger trunk. That’s right; the Nissan Versa sports a trunk that measures 14.7 or 15 cubic feet of storage space, dependent on the trim level. On the other hand, the Toyota Corolla sedan’s trunk is only 13 cubic feet.

The Versa's smooth ride and cushy front seats make it a relaxing chariot for daily commutes, and it's available with more driver assists than its classmates. There’s nothing to complain about with the Versa’s seats. They’re reasonably comfortable and supportive, and adults can ride in either row without feeling squeezed. There’s nothing to complain about with the Versa’s seats. They’re reasonably comfortable and supportive, and adults can ride in either row without feeling squeezed.

Pricing

Not only is the Nissan handsome, but it also has a price tag that's affordable for almost everyone. The 2022 Nissan Versa starts at just $15,580; no matter how you choose, it won’t crest far above $20,000. The 2022 Toyota Corolla starts at $20,425 and can jump to well beyond $25,000, depending on trim and options.

What’s New for the 2023 Nissan LEAF EV Vehicle

For over ten years now, Nissan’s LEAF EV has been at the forefront of Nissan’s green revolution. A decade ago, the company made a commitment to bring the best in all-electric vehicles to the people of the US looking to move away from gasoline-powered transport. The company has recently announced that the 2023 iteration of the Nissan LEAF EV vehicle will be the most exciting version of the LEAF yet.

Nissan has Listened to Their Customers, and Are Providing Exactly What Their Customers Want

The 2023 version of the Nissan LEAF EV will be available in two main trims – the standard LEAF S and the slightly more advanced LEAF SV PLUS. A whole host of customer-requested additions have been added to each, including advanced tech. Despite all these additions and positive changes, both new trims of the LEAF EV will be available at affordable prices. For information, the MRSP of the 2022 LEAF was $27,400, and for the 2022 LEAF SV the MSRP was $35,400.

The main updates for the 2023 version of the LEAF are as follows:

  • Enhanced front end appearance
  • Refreshed front grille
  • New bumper molding
  • New black inner finisher for headlights
  • Illuminated Nissan badge (updated to reflect new brand identity)
  • Modified tire deflectors
  • Modified rear under diffuser
  • Modified real spoiler
  • Five-spoke, 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels (SV PLUS only)

The standard, 2023 LEAF S comes equipped with a 40kWh lithium-ion battery and 110kW motor. The motor will deliver 147 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. The advanced LEAF SV PLUS comes with a 60kWh lithium-ion battery and a 160kW motor. This combination will successfully deliver 214 hp and 250 lb-ft which, for any electric vehicle, is stunningly powerful. The EPA range estimates for both models of the 2023 LEAF will be released close to the date that this iteration of the Nissan LEAF is launched, but they are thought to be very similar to the estimates for the 2022 iteration of the LEAF. These estimates are 149 miles for the S trim, and 215 miles for the SV PLUS trim.

Both models will come equipped with an impressive range of additional technologies and driver assist features. For the SV PLUS, this means that the ProPILOT Assist is standard. ProPILOT Assist is a hands-on driver assist system that works to combine Nissan’s steering assist technologies and Intelligent Cruise Control. This is capable of automatically bringing your Nissan to a full stop in traffic (not only in emergencies), holding in position and then moving off again automatically when the traffic starts to move again without any intervention from the driver. It has not been revealed if this technology will be available as an optional upgrade for the LEAF S.

The 2023 Iteration of the Nissan LEAF Comes with a Number of Reassuring Warranties

Both the Nissan LEAF S and the LEAF SV PLUS come complete with a limited lithium-ion battery warranty. This will cover defects in workmanship or materials for the battery pack for 100,000 miles or for eight years, whichever comes first. A limited warranty against battery capacity will also be available, covering capacity loss below nine bars (out of ten) as displayed on the LEAF’s capacity level gauge. This warranty is also in place for 100,000 miles or for eight years, whichever comes first.

An availability date for the 2023 LEAF S and the LEAF SV PLUS has not yet been released. The new versions of both vehicles made their debut at the 2022 New York International Auto Show in April 2022 and will be available for purchase at some time during summer 2022.

For the 2023 Nissan LEAF, when available, contact Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso at (915) 226-0702, or online here.

Reasons Why You Should Service Your Nissan at a Factory Approved Dealership

There’s a saying that can be applied to most purchases, and that saying is ‘buy cheap, buy twice’. It is always tempting to cut corners wherever you can, especially with the world’s current financial instability in play, and indeed on some occasions, you might just get away with it.

On many occasions though, you won’t, and one part of life you should never cut corners with is when it comes to servicing your automobile. While it might be tempting to take your car for its annual service to your local corner garage, the truth is that if you do so, you’ll probably be shaving hundreds of dollars off your vehicle’s lifespan and resale value.

Want to Keep Your Nissan in Tip-Top Shape? Then Follow the Service Plan as Recommended

Certainly, when it comes to servicing your Nissan vehicle, you should only ever take your car, van or truck to a dealership that has been approved by Nissan themselves. The following few paragraphs will explain why.

Servicing is certainly big business, as you might imagine it to be, given the number of cars currently on America’s roads. The total annual budget for repair and maintenance in the US per year is currently around $600 billion and that’s a figure that’s sure to rise. Lots of garages are competing for your business, which means you can get some good deals, however, if you find yourself swayed by bargain prices offered by your local, non-factory approved dealerships, you have to ask yourself the question will, in the long run, those savings be worth it? The answer is always no.

First and foremost, the mechanics at your local garage will be happy to take in any car, no matter if it is made by Nissan, or Mitsubishi, or Ford, or Hyundai. That might make them sound as if they are experts, but here we can throw another common saying at you – “the Jack of all trades is the master of none.” If you have a Nissan vehicle, then you will want it to be cared for by people who could put back together a disassembled Nissan car from scratch, in the dark.

Factory-approved dealerships have to adhere to many specific criteria in order to retain their factory-approved status. One of those criteria is that they can only employ expert technicians who usually specialize in one make of vehicle. For Nissan factory approved dealerships, this means that the technicians will have undergone special training programs devised by Nissan themselves.

Nissan-approved Dealerships Have Staff That Have Undergone Nissan-approved Training Programs

That training does not only apply to technicians – service managers, service advisors and even support staff must undergo Nissan-approved training programs themselves. It’s all part of Nissan’s commitment to becoming the number one thought-of car manufacturing brand in the US, no matter how much effort that takes.

One further key aspect of servicing that should dissuade you from taking your vehicle for a service at your local garage is that doing so may invalidate any warranties currently running following your purchase. Obviously, if a non-approved mechanic tinkers with your vehicle, they may do something that causes more harm than good. You cannot then take your car to a Nissan-approved dealership to fix the problem that has been caused ‘under warranty’ as you cannot expect your warranty to cover damage that has been caused by a non-approved mechanic’s ineptitude or lack of experience.

If you have purchased your Nissan vehicle from the Charlie Clark Nissan dealership in El Paso, then please make sure you bring it back to us in line with the manufacturer’s service schedule. Contact us at (915) 226-0702, or online here to schedule a time to visit our stellar service department.

How much of a monthly payment can I afford on a new or used vehicle?

You need a car, but when you look at your budget, you’re not sure what kind of down payment you should make or how much you can afford to pay each month. Maybe you haven’t made a car payment in a while. Or maybe you have been making a payment all along and it’s been putting a damper on your budget. Before you strap yourself into a new car, take a minute to figure out how much car you can afford and still live comfortably within your means.

How much you can spend on a vehicle, based on your salary

The general rule of thumb is to spend less than 45% of your gross income (before taxes and other deductions) on total debt, including credit cards, loans, rent, property taxes, etc. Calculating how much you can afford is simple. You can use an online calculator or do it yourself with the following calculations:

  • Calculation to determine total debt payments per month – To determine how much debt you can take on per month, you can multiply your annual salary by 45% (.45) and divide that amount by 12. Or to calculate by month, multiply your monthly salary by .45
  • Calculation for determining car payments per month – Now that you know what you can spend on debt each month (we’ll use $1,125 from the example above), you need to figure out what portion can go toward your car payment. You are calculating debt only, so don’t worry about groceries, utilities, or other household expenses.

Leasing vs financing

Leasing a car usually has a lower monthly payment because you’re not buying it. If you want to buy it later, you’ll have to pay a portion of the total cost of the vehicle. If you only need a car for a few years or you must have a lower payment, it might help you afford it.

Interest rate/credit score

The interest rate that you qualify for and receive will have a big impact on your payments and loan affordability. If your credit is poor, you will not have access to prime interest rates and will end up paying more out of pocket for that dream vehicle.

Down payment

A down payment can reduce your monthly payment, and many lenders require one to buy a car. You don’t always have to make a down payment, but if you’re struggling to fit it into your budget, it can help to reduce the monthly payment amount.

Length of the loan

The longer the repayment period of your loan, the lower your monthly payment will be, but the more you will pay out in interest over time. A loan with longer repayment terms can help you afford a much more expensive vehicle, although you will be paying for it much longer.

Other important factors to consider

Before you get excited and look for a car with a $375/month price tag, consider these things: Are you planning on purchasing another large item within the next few years? If so, you may not be able to afford it if your pay doesn’t increase substantially. Are you saving enough? If you don’t have an emergency fund or need to save for a down payment on a house or another large purchase, you may want to allocate more to savings. Keeping your monthly payments lower will help you do that. Depending on how much of a down payment you make and which terms you pick, you may be paying this amount for a long time. Will you be comfortable with that?

Ways to reduce your payment

  •  Save before you buy. You can save enough to buy the whole thing or simply save enough for a nice healthy down payment that will lighten your monthly debt burden.
  • Consider a lesser-expensive vehicle. Think about the most important features of your next vehicle. If you make some compromises, you might find a car that fits your needs without breaking the bank.
  • Sell your car privately instead of trading it in at the dealership. This can take some work, but you can often get a better price by privately selling it than the dealership may offer you.
  • Refinance your existing car loan. If you’re able to refinance at an interest rate that’s lower than your current one, that can help you save money. Refinancing with a longer loan term also may lower your monthly payment, but you’ll probably pay more interest in the long run.

Next steps

While you may not be able to control the rising purchase price of cars overall, you can make choices that affect the size of your car payment. As you develop your car budget, remember to factor in the other costs that come with vehicle ownership — like fuel, auto insurance and ongoing maintenance — as you consider how much you can afford to finance.

Introducing the Long Awaited 2023 Nissan Z | Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso Blog

The Nissan Z is the long-awaited new sports car from Nissan. It is a replacement for the 350Z, with Nissan having dropped the numbers from the vehicle’s name. Despite being a new generation model, the Z keeps all the features that has made the 350Z one of its most popular vehicles – with twin seats, RWD and a six-speed manual transmission.

One area though that the new Z has really improved in is power, with a twin-turbo 3.0 liter V6 engine that can boast 400hp. This is the same VR30DDTT V6 engine from Nissan’s Infiniti Red Sport 400 models. It maxes out at 400 hp at 6400 rpm and 350 lb-ft of torque. This 3.0 liter engine has variable valve timing and direct injection which adds a maximum 14.7 psi of boost.

The Entry Level Trim of the 2023 Nissan Z is the Nissan Z Sport

The Z Sport is the entry level trim, but it has an identical powertrain to other Z’s in the range. It also has a completely customizable 12.3-inch TFT instrument display, a complete set of safety features, club seats that have synthetic suede inserts and driver-assistance tools.

The next trim up in the Z Performance. Among its upgrades over the Sport include an eight-speaker Bose stereo system (two more speakers than the Sport), heated leather seats, more responsive braking and firmer suspension.

In terms of looks, the Performance switches the Sport’s 18-inch wheels with lightweight 19-inch forged Rays wheels. The Performance also has red-painted brake calipers, front and rear spoilers and a dual exhaust. The Performance model also has an automatic launch control which the Sport does not have.

The top trim is the Proto Spec which is basically a Performance that’s been merged with the Z Proto concept car. It is a full bumblebee design – yellow body, black roof, bronze wheels, yellow brake calipers and black seats with yellow stitching and accents.

The 2023 Nissan Z is All About Stunning Good Looks and Envy Inducing Power

The Z goes a little overboard in instrumentation, featuring three analog gauges that are basically just there for show – one for boost, one is a turbocharger tachometer and one is a voltmeter. Like Z models of the past, this vehicle has similar-looking taillights and the usual ‘long hood, short deck’ visual appeal.

"The Z has always been an accessible sports car – always placed at the intersection of aspiration and attainability – of dreams and reality,” said Ashwani Gupta, COO at Nissan. “This latest iteration is now ready to thrill Z enthusiasts and create a whole new generation of Z fans as well, when it comes to market here in the U.S. early next year.”

The only bad news about the new Nissan Z is the waiting time until this premier vehicle is released for purchase, which may not happen until April 2022.

The Charlie Clark Nissan Showroom is the Place to go for all Your Nissan Vehicle Needs

Choosing a Home Charger for a Nissan EV

As El Paso electric vehicle shoppers get further along in the process of transitioning from a traditional gas-powered vehicle to an all new EV (electric vehicle) like the popular Nissan LEAF, one decision that has to be made is how to charge the EV between rides.

EV drivers love the experience of owning an electric vehicle. From the instant acceleration only a battery powered vehicle provides to skipping out on not only fill-ups at the pump, but also other routine maintenance like oil changes—there is a lot to love about driving an EV these days.

El Paso electric vehicle owners also appreciate the ability to fuel their car in their very own driveway or garage at night while they sleep. Thanks to the 6.6 kilowatt charger that comes on-board and a port for quick charging, the Nissan LEAF provides for fast charging in between trips.

To be technical, when we talk about chargers, we actually mean power supplies. Outlets and other sources simply supply the power that the on-board charger uses to fuel the battery, but for simplicities sake, we’ll stick with charger.

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn announces NGP 2016.

An EV Keeps El Paso Drivers on the Go

Not only can drivers of a new or used Nissan LEAF charge at their home, but there are also public charging stations currently dotting the map around El Paso where EV drivers can get a quick charge thanks to the fast-charging capabilities of an electric vehicle like the Nissan LEAF.

The Nissan LEAF uses a technology known as CHAdeMO, which is the most optimized fast charging standard. Using a public fast charger located around town means your electric vehicle will be charged up in no time. EV drivers are always surprised at the range just a handful of minutes at a public quick charging station provides.

There is less and less range-anxiety for electric vehicle drivers throughout the El Paso area today than ever before. Today’s technology and charging options go a long way in assuaging these concerns—especially around the house.

Charging at Home Makes Driving an El Paso Electric Vehicle Even More Convenient

When it comes to charging your Nissan LEAF or other electric vehicle at home, the convenience for modern chargers makes it easier than ever. In fact, one option for charging at home is as simple as plugging your EV into a standard 110-volt wall outlet just as you would any other appliance.

This option provides what is known as “Level 1” charging, which meets the need for many drivers who don’t travel very far each day. Fully charging up your El Paso Nissan LEAF EV using a 110-volt outlet can take around 20 hours if the battery has been completely depleted.

However, “Level 2” charging using a 240V outlet can cut that time by over half.  Depending on the amperage, charging a Nissan LEAF at Level 2 can be done in about 7 hours. Why You Should Own an Electric Vehicle.

It is time we stop saying that EV’s (electric vehicles) are set to become the future of transportation and understand how they are actually the present—or at least they are the most efficient and responsible option currently. What was once thought to be reserved for celebrities or the uberwealthy in big cities is becoming more and more the standard for everyday drivers in every city—like El Paso.

As the technology driving EV’s has skyrocketed over the past few years, both the cost of ownership and the conveniences they bring have also improved dramatically for residents in a place like El Paso. In fact, with today’s electric vehicles, the cost to power and maintain an EV can cost just a third of what it costs to fuel and maintain a traditional gas-powered vehicle.

Incentives at Every Level for Electric Vehicle Drivers

What many El Paso drivers are unaware of is that with fewer moving parts and less opportunity for friction in the engine, electric vehicles do not require oil changes or other regular services like vehicles powered by combustion engines. Instead, an electric vehicle allows drivers to stay on the road longer simply by no longer requiring the inconvenient routine maintenance of a gas-powered vehicle.

Not only is the low cost of ownership a worthy incentive in and of itself, but there are other ways that governments or power companies are making driving an electric car extra worth it. From the federal level all the way down to certain municipalities, tax credits, rebates, and discounts abound for owners of EV’s—even in a place like El Paso, TX.

As if the financial incentives and the pride of owning one were not enough, an added bonus for electric vehicle drivers throughout the El Paso area is the increased performance. The ability of electric vehicles to transfer power from their battery to the engine and throughout the drivetrain in a fraction of the time it takes a gas-powered vehicle means instant torque.

More responsive acceleration coupled with a quieter ride is an added benefit many drivers are unaware of until they get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle for the first time. This perk is not just reserved for only higher-end electric vehicles but is a part of every model.

The Only Environmentally Friendly Choice Means Making Much Less Impact

While incentives have been used to get the ball rolling toward critical mass, the number one motivator for EV drivers currently is their effect on the environment—or rather their lack of an effect. Being much cleaner to operate and to manufacture, electric vehicles do not leave a devastating mark on nonrenewable energy sources.

Thanks to their zero emission powertrains and the ability for El Paso electric vehicle drivers to charge their EV using electricity sourced from low-emissions sources such as solar panels, wind, and natural gas, electric vehicles are the most climate conscious decision drivers can make.

When you are ready to experience an electric vehicle in El Paso for the first time, the expert team at Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso is here to help. With makes and models like the all-electric Nissan LEAF—which is still building on over a decade of advancements in the EV market—Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso features the latest new and used options for electric vehicles in El Paso.

Our Love for El Paso Texas—Our Home, Our Life

It is not happenstance that Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso made its home here in El Paso. Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso intentionally chose El Paso. Actually, you could say that El Paso chose Charlie Clark Nissan.

To understand how Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso wound up making El Paso its home, you have to know the Charlie Clark story. Charlie Clark himself was raised in the McAllen TX area and while located nearly 800 miles from El Paso, McAllen shares much of the same culture that attracted Charlie Clark to El Paso.

A large part of Charlie Clark’s rearing was influenced by the time he spent with his nanny—Mari Cruz Aurora Aguirre—who he called, “Nana.” She was a native of Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Nana played a key role in developing Charlie Clark’s love and appreciation for the melding of cultures along the Texas border.

Charlie Clark’s firsthand exposure to many Mexican traditions in the home of Mrs. Aguirre and across the border in nearby Reynosa led to a deep affection for the festive environments he often experienced. This appreciation and affection has led to the culture Charlie Clark creates in his El Paso dealership.

One recent online testimonial even states, “It’s a party atmosphere in that place from the time they open their doors in the morning till they close.” Another reads, “I love your commercials. I think your Nana is so beautiful.” Charlie Clark would agree!

The Beauty of El Paso’s Geography is Only Matched by its People

Not only is the geography a sight to behold, but so is its wildlife. Hikers, bikers, and others love to view beautiful landscapes along with the diverse ecosystem. Birds, reptiles, and small mammals all live throughout the city limits of El Paso. It is a regular occurrence to spot mule deer, coyotes, and even an occasional mountain lion.

El Paso sits on the westernmost point of Texas and features striking views of the Franklin Mountains that extend north into New Mexico. The rich history of El Paso goes back hundreds of years and it is no wonder how El Paso became the site of choice for many to watch the Mexican Revolution rage between rebel and federal forces back in 1911.

While no longer a place of nearby revolution, El Paso does demonstrate honor to military heritage through its own Fort Bliss; which is home of the U. S. Army’s tank division. Soldiers who call El Paso home are regularly involved in giving back to the community through toy drives and other efforts.

Sun City is Also a Safe and Fun City

Also known as Sun City, El Paso has a storied history of tales for which the wild west is often depicted in movies and legend. While the truth of these stories cannot be validated, the area pays homage to its country western heritage all around town. Ironically, in light of its wild west reputation, El Paso is actually one of the top 10 safest cities in the nation.

The name Sun City is one that El Paso earns due to the large number of sunny days every year. Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso loves to call a place with this type of climate home. The weather in El Paso provides for lots of opportunities to enjoy life outdoors. The Franklin Mountains State Park provides many ways for El Paso residents to enjoy activities outside like camping and hiking.

Many People Have Learned that El Paso is a Great Place to Raise a Family

The famous El Paso Zoo is another outdoor attraction that features fun for the whole family. The zoo’s 35 acres of green space and exotic animals from all over the world make it a favorite destination for many in the city. Along with the zoo, downtown El Paso features seasonal festivities throughout the year for all of its residents and visitors to enjoy.

The cultural crossroads of El Paso provides one of the most delicious culinary scenes of any city. Residents and tourists are regularly treated to authentic Mexican, true southwestern, and the best Tex-Mex cuisine you can find anywhere. The appreciation for food found in El Paso is what leads Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso to feature fresh pan dulce daily along with special grilling every Saturday featuring tacos, carne asada, burgers, and more.

The great public school system coupled with outstanding colleges and universities make El Paso a popular destination for those who highly value education. Coupled with the low cost of living, Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso knew that it would be easy to serve a population that shares these same values.

El Paso Displays Tribute to History

The ways in which El Paso honors the past is another reason Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso calls our city home. El Paso features the only border patrol museum in all of America and also provides the only bi-lingual Holocaust museum in the U.S. as well.

The beautiful architecture of El Paso includes lots of adobe—Spanish for mudbrick—structures in the El Paso area. Although adobe is among the earliest building materials used throughout the world, it is not one forsaken by designers and builders around El Paso. The use of adobe is another way the history of Latin American culture is on display in the El Paso area.

Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso wanted to be part of a community where art lovers, history buffs, and others with a deep love of blended cultures are not only welcomed, but also celebrated. To understand even more why Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso chose to call this area home, simply drop by the dealership to experience it for yourself.
