What Did Nissan Bring to SEMA 2019?

Each year, the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show puts on display some of the coolest vehicles that car and auto parts manufacturers can come up with. Most years, Nissan shows up big at SEMA, and SEMA 2019 is no different.

Nissan brought 3 vehicles to SEMA for 2019, one built for racing, another for off-road fun, and yet another for stylish city driving. Let’s check them out below.

Global Time Attack TT 370Z Racing Features

In addition to the 750-plus horsepower engine powering this racer, this edition of the 370Z gets added Garrett GTX 3076 turbochargers and an HGT Precision 6-speed transmission. Outside, Nissan has outfitted the car with a custom carbon fiber aerodynamic package.

Frontier Desert Runner

The Nissan Frontier is a beloved truck in the pickup market, and the Desert Runner is no doubt a favorite. It’s available to consumers as an extra package that adds off-road styling. The one shown at SEMA has a few enhancements, however, and these include an upgrade from a V6 to V8 engine, a BTF Fabrication front suspension kit, Fiberworx Pre Runner fenders, off-road lighting from Rigid Industries, and so much more.

Kicks Street Sport

At first glance, it’s easy to tell that this isn’t the Nissan Kicks you’re used to. The Kicks Color Studio was used to develop custom pieces for the Kicks’ exterior that include a larger front air dam and side skirts. Fender flairs were implemented at each corner by MA Motorsports to fit the offset wheels. Moreover, the Kicks Street Sport features a custom suspension with NISMO shock absorbers.

  • When the vehicle is in “Park,” switch the engine off but leave the vehicle in ignition mode
  • Begin to fill your tires with air – the front headlights will flash to indicate the system is operating
  • Continue to fill your tires until the vehicle’s horn sounds – this will tell you your tire is at the desired pressure

How Does Nissan Intelligent Rear View Mirror Work?

I-RVM is the first-ever intelligent mirror offered on a non-luxury SUV. This simple yet ingenious invention inserts a built-in LCD monitor within the traditional rearview mirror. When active, the I-RVM provides a clear view of the world directly behind your vehicle, unobstructed by any luggage, cargo, or even tall passengers in the back. The secret behind I-RVM is a rear-mounted camera, much like a backup camera. Unlike a backup camera, I-RVM will continue to work longer after you reverse out of a parking spot. I-RVM goes with you on the open road, being your eyes when you need them most. With the simple flip of a switch, your traditional rearview mirror switches to the I-RVM – free of any visual obstruction between you and your car’s bumper.

We hope this has thoroughly answered your question – what is Nissan Intelligent Rear View Mirror? At this time, the 2018 Nissan Armada is the first and only non-luxury SUV to offer I-RVM. This innovative feature is only available on the Platinum trim of the 2018 Armada, but—as you can imagine—it is well worth the upgrade. We expect more Nissan cars to receive this awesome feature in the future, but, for the time being, the honor goes solely to the 2018 Nissan Armada.

Have a great day!

How the 2018 Nissan LEAF Drives Farther with Every Charge

Inspired by the wings of an airplane, the 2018 Nissan LEAF is engineered to aerodynamically slice a path wherever it goes. By slicing through a symmetric air flow—and exerting less energy in the process—the LEAF is now able to get farther with the same amount of electricity per charge.

What Else Does the New Nissan LEAF Design Do?

In addition, the new LEAF is also lower to the ground, which allows for better stability at high speeds. The new design also helps to stabilize the LEAF when pushed by powerful crosswinds – helping the drivers to stay on course, regardless of the weather conditions.

Nissan RDA – Reminder Technology for Second and Third Row Seats

2018 Nissan Pathfinder will debut the Rear Door Alert system

Every now and then, one Nissan vehicle is just a little bit luckier than its siblings. This year, the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder will debut the Rear Door Alert system and make history in the process. No need for the other vehicles to get too jealous, however, as many of them will also receive Rear Door Alert (RDA) in the near future? So, what exactly is RDA?

What is Rear Door Alert (RDA)?

A couple of Nissan engineers—Elsa Foley and Marlene Mendoza—developed the idea of RDA after Foley accidentally left a pan of lasagna in her car overnight. Needless to say, the car reeked of lasagna for several days afterwards. If only there would have been some form of technology to help her remember the lasagna was in her back seat. Now, with the RDA system, forgotten backseat cargo will be a thing of the past.

How Does RDA Work?

A car equipped with RDA will remember the patterns of your car doors opening and closing, and then react when necessary. For instance, if you open and close at least one of the back doors of your Nissan vehicle before driving somewhere, arrive at your destination, turn off the car, and then leave the vehicle without opening and closing at least or more of those doors, RDA will notice this and activate.Rear Door Alert in Settings menu.

Does RDA Have More Than One Setting?

The nature of the RDA’s response is up to you, as the system can be customized very easily. When configuring the RDA in the settings menu of the Pathfinder, you will be able to choose whether you want the RDA to activate as a silent notification on the instrument panel, a series of distinctive horn honks, or both. Even better, the RDA system can be disabled either temporarily or permanently, however you see fit.

How to Use Nissan ProPILOT Assist

Graph with Nissan plans - Nissan ProPILOT Assist driver technology is ready for US launch

A modern-day pioneer in the world of driver assistance technology, Nissan ProPILOT Assist is designed specifically for American roads and traffic conditions. To turn on the system, the driver only needs to push the blue button marked “ProPILOT Assist ON,” which is located in the right-side steering wheel spoke. Next, when the desired speed is reached, the driver should set the Intelligent Cruise Control.

As long as lane markers are consistently detected, the steering assist—indicated by steering wheel/lane marker icons on the instrument panel—helps to keep the driver’s vehicle in its respective lane. If the car comes to a complete stop for more than three seconds, such as in a traffic jam, then the driver will simply need to tap the accelerator pedal or hit the “resume” button and the car will be on its way to the driver’s desination in no time at all.
