How to Get a Nissan Skyline in the U.S., If It’s Even Possible

Is the Nissan Skyline Available In the United States?

Everyone has heard the phrase, “you always want what you can’t have.” This rings true in many aspects of life, including the automotive industry. Car enthusiasts around the globe always pine after vehicles that are not available in their country, even if there are plenty of incredible options still available to them.

One such model that gets a lot of attention amongst enthusiasts globally is the Nissan Skyline, and you may be wondering if it’s a model that is available here in the United States.

If you beg us for a direct answer, we’d say “no.” The Nissan Skyline has never been sold in the United States. Of course, life is almost always much more complicated than this, and so is the case of the Skyline.

[Read more: What Is the Meaning of the Nissan Name?]

So, You Can Get a Nissan Skyline In the US?

red nissan skyline with mirrors mounted near the hood

The reason you can’t find the Nissan Skyline in the United States is because when it finally was imported stateside, it wasn’t called the Skyline. Instead, it went by the name Infiniti G, though more recently Q is the model designation that has replaced that line of cars.

Of course, the Skyline nameplate has a storied history dating back to 1957, and the model that many enthusiasts desire doesn’t begin appearing until 1981 in the form of the 2000RS. It did away with some of the unnecessary luxuries and was meant for racing prowess. In 1989 we saw the R32, the R33 in 1993 and the R34 in 1998.

These particular models never did make their way over to the United States. It wasn’t until the V35, the 11th generation of the Skyline, in 2001 that we see the Skyline exported to the U.S. as the Infiniti G35. But, with no straight-six engine or turbocharger, amongst other things, this isn’t usually the type of Skyline many enthusiasts seek.

So, the more complicated answer is that you can find a variation of the Skyline branded under a different name in the United States, but it won’t be the same model from the glory days of Skyline’s sports car past. Does the 2019 Nissan Rogue have remote start?

CATEGORIES

Nissan Rogue ,

Remote Start Capability in the 2019 Nissan Rogue

One of the most lusted-after features in modern vehicles is Remote Start capability. Though it’s illegal in some parts of the country, we are happily free to use remote start here in Texas. This means if you want to get your vehicle running and cooled down in preparation for your entrance, that is perfectly acceptable in the eyes of the State. You’re only limited by one thing: whether your chosen ride is equipped with the Remote Start feature or not.

The 2019 Nissan Rogue is an excellent and hugely popular crossover SUV, blending daily use practicality with off-road ability. Does the 2019 Nissan Rogue have Remote Start?

Yes! The 2019 Nissan Rogue has available remote start with Intelligent Climate Control. Remote Start comes standard on every trim of the 2019 Nissan Rogue except for the base trim. That means you’ll find standard remote start on the:

  • 2019 Nissan Rogue SV
  • 2019 Nissan Rogue SV Hybrid
  • 2019 Nissan Rogue SL
  • 2019 Nissan Rogue SL Hybrid

View Our New Nissan Rogue Inventory

What does Intelligent Climate Control mean?

Intelligent Climate Control will intelligently adjust the interior temperature of your vehicle once you remote start it. If the outside is hot (as is often the case here in El Paso), the Intelligent Climate Control will cool your interior to a comfortable level. If the outside is cold, the Intelligent Climate Control system will be smart enough to realize you probably want things toastier, and will warm up the insides.

What if I activate remote start by accident- will my vehicle be running all day?

Activating remote start will result in your vehicle starting up for just ten minutes. This prevents unnecessary waste of fuel and production of emissions. Following the remote start procedure on your FOB a second time will kick off another ten-minute period. After this one, you’ll have to cycle the ignition switch on and off before you can use remote start again.

How do I activate Remote Start in my 2019 Nissan Rogue?

Remote Start is employed by pressing the lock button on your key FOB, then, within five seconds, holding down the remote start button for at least two seconds. This ritual is complex enough that you’ll be unlikely to do it accidentally, but easy enough to be convenient and simple to remember. Alternatively, remote start can be activated through the NissanConnect Services app.

Does the 2019 Nissan Sentra have navigation?

Infotainment Navigation Features on the 2019 Nissan Sentra

When you’re driving your vehicle, it is helpful to know where you’re going. Long ago, humans invented maps to help with this, and many years later, we invented virtual navigation systems to make it even easier. Buyers looking for a new car may be considering the necessity of this feature.

Among other things, the 2019 Nissan Sentra is lauded for its spacious seats, large trunk, and intuitive infotainment. It is a worthy member of the compact car class. But does the 2019 Nissan Sentra have a built-in navigation system?

View Our New Nissan Sentra Inventory

The 2019 Nissan Sentra does not offer the built-in NissanConnect Navigation system. It does, however, expand its integration of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, standardizing these systems on every trim except the base S. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto both feature a variety of apps that can be used easily for navigation purposes directly through the 2019 Nissan Sentra infotainment system.

Past model years of the Sentra have featured NissanConnect Navigation, but with the expanded Apple CarPlay, it’s a convenient and cost-saving measure to use navigation through these systems instead. GPS apps like Apple Maps and Google Maps are able to be updated more frequently and, as such, are currently the most reliable and up-to-date ways to navigate whatever corner of the planet you find yourself on.

Smart devices can be connected to the infotainment system of any compatible 2019 Nissan Sentra, generally done using Bluetooth connection or a USB cable.

What are the infotainment and interior features of the 2019 Nissan Sentra?

Standard infotainment features on every 2019 Nissan Sentra include:

  • 7-inch touch screen (bigger than any screen available on past Nissan Sentra models)
  • Bluetooth
  • USB port
  • Siri Eyes Free

Available interior features include:

  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (standard on all trims above the S)
  • Satellite radio
  • Dual-Zone automatic climate control
  • Push-Button Start
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Automatic Emergency braking
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Blind-Spot Monitoring
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Moonroof
  • Eight-speaker Bose Premium Audio System

The 7-inch touchscreen, standard on every trim, is bigger than any screen in past Nissan Sentra models and features a user-friendly interface along with clearly readable buttons.

What Has Changed On the Altima Over the Years?

CATEGORIES

Nissan Altima ,

History of the Nissan Altima Through 6 Generations

We recently shared news with you about the 2019 Nissan Altima and all the exciting changes that will come in the new model year. Sometimes, when a vehicle is refreshed and reborn, it’s nice to take a step back and a look back at where the vehicle has come from.

After all, the Altima is now entering its 6th generation. It was first introduced in the 1993 model year, with the first model rolling off the assembly line on June 11, 1992 in Tennessee. So, let’s take a walk back in time to look at the history of the Nissan Altima through all 6 of its generations.

1st Generation Nissan Altima

The first iteration of the Altima appeared in the 1993 model year and continued on until 1997. It was meant to be a successor of the Stanza, and in fact, it actually came with both the Stanza and Altima badging initially.

At the time, the Altima’s engine delivered 150 horsepower, which was quite a powerful output for the time. Even today, 150 horsepower is real solid for any sedan. Plus, although the technology hasn’t been wide spread until just recently, the Altima in 1993 and 1994 was available with a head-up display.

2nd Generation Nissan Altima

The 2nd generation of the Altima ran just from 1998 – 2001. Since this was at a time when airbags were just beginning to be used across the board and become included in all vehicles, it was a big deal when side airbags became available for the vehicle. Also available were standard leather seats on all GLE models.

This 2nd generation model was unique for the American market, and in fact, it was designed at a center in California. During this 2nd generation, a cassette player still existed, though it also played CDs.

3rd Generation Nissan Altima

The 3rd iteration of the Altima ran from 2002 – 2006. Many feel that the early 2000s weren’t the most exciting time for the automotive industry, and this may be true. But, the Altima seems to have been the exception, as it offered a V6 engine, had two-tone dashboard colors and an optional navigation system.

4th Generation Nissan Altima

The 4th generation was an exciting time for the Altima as well, as the first coupe variant was introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2006. This is a time where technology really took off, with the Altima offering features like hands-free Bluetooth pairing, a backup camera, and intelligent key technology.

And, speaking of technology, this generation saw Nissan’s first hybrid vehicle in the form of the Altima Hybrid. It was only available in 10 states at the time, but it paved the way for a future of green mobility.

5th Generation Nissan Altima

The 5th generation is the one you are most familiar with, as it ran from 2013 – 2018. Of course, you can still get a 5th generation Altima as we write this, so we won’t go into a ton of details here.

One big addition for this generation, however, were the zero-gravity seats inspired by NASA, designed to make the driving experience less taxing for drivers. The Altima also increased in size during this time but remained light weight, meaning that the 182 horsepower engine it came with (and available 270-horsepower V6) can launch the vehicle much easier.

6th Generation Nissan Altima

Of course, this brings us to the 6th generation of the Nissan Altima. Since we’ve already described the many changes experienced by the model for 2019, go ahead and click the link below to learn all about it. If you have questions ahead of its release date, be sure to contact us at Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso and we would be happy to help.

Interior dimensions of the 2018 Nissan Rogue

Nissan Rogue ,

How much passenger space is there in the 2018 Nissan Rogue?

No one likes to be squished like sardines in the back seat of a crowded car, and why would you? Those who want to be comfortable in a vehicle, no matter which seat they’re sitting in will be happy with the interior space available in the 2018 Nissan Rogue. When driving in the 2018 Nissan Rogue, gone are the days of having to race for the front seat, as everyone will have plenty of room to sit.

The 2018 Nissan Rogue provides seating for up to five people, with a total passenger volume of 105.8 cubic feet. When you break that down, it does get distributed a little more to those in the front seat, but the difference between the front and the back is no more than five inches on head, leg, hip, and shoulder room. However, if you opt to include the available moonroof, you’ll lose a little of interior space off of the top, dropping passenger capacity to 100.4 cubic feet. However, you’ll still have the same amount of leg, hip and shoulder room, so there’s still plenty of room to keep passengers comfortable.

Cargo Space in the 2018 Nissan Rogue

While it is important to keep your passengers happy, you also need to be able to accommodate any cargo that you might need to bring with you. Luckily, in the 2018 Nissan Rogue, that won’t be a problem, with 39.3 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the second row. If you need more room for cargo and don’t need to use the second row, the seats easily fold down to extend the cargo hold to 70 cubic feet. Using the 60/40 split folding seat, you can configure the cargo area almost any way you want. If you still have large, bulky items that just don’t fit in the 2018 Nissan Rogue, you’re able to tow a trailer weighing up to 1,102 pounds, which should be able to handle plenty of additional items.

To see the expansive interior of the 2018 Nissan Rogue for yourself, and to get behind the wheel to take it for a spin, schedule a test drive at Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso. When you’re on the website, you can also see all of the new 2018 Nissan models that are currently available in the online inventory.

Which features are standard?

The five trim levels for the 2018 Nissan Maxima—S, SV, SL, SR and Platinum—are exceptional values, but one need not look beyond the base trim to find some of the most must-have standard features. For example, included in the base S trim, drivers and passengers will be able to enjoy standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ capability. Just in case this wasn’t enough, Nissan also included a navigation system and a remote engine start system in the S trim. Needless to say, this is an incredible group of features to receive as standard across every trim level.

Available features on higher trim levels

As good as this base trim may be, it is only the beginning. Moving to a higher trim will naturally lead to more features; and the higher you go, the more you can expect out of the 2018 Nissan Maxima. Mosey on up to the SV trim and the next layer of features includes leather-appointed seats, a front and rear sonar system, heated front seats, and more.

Then, the middle SL trim level adds a premium 11-speaker sound system, a dual-panel panoramic moonroof as well as Rear Cross Traffic and Blind Spot Warning. Not quite done there, the SR trim adds a sporty suspension, upgraded leather-appointed seats, and more. Last but not least, the top-of-the-line Platinum trim gives customers access to NissanConnect services, the Intelligent Around View® Monitor and ventilated front seats.
