What’s the break-in period for a 2019 Nissan Titan?

2019 Nissan Titan Break-In Period

If you just bought a 2019 Nissan Titan, you may be wondering: how should I break it in? Though break-in periods on vehicles are not as extreme as they used to be, thanks to advances in engineering and technology, it’s still important to follow some guidelines to make sure you get your vehicle running optimally.

Those guidelines, however, differ from vehicle to vehicle. Let’s look at the break-in period recommendations for the 2019 Nissan Titan.

Owner’s Manual Recommendations

According to the owner’s manual of the 2019 Nissan Titanpractice the following items for the first 1,200 miles of operation:

  • Avoid driving for long periods at constant speed, either fast or slow, and do not run the engine over 4,000 rpm
  • Do not accelerate at full throttle in any gear
  • Avoid quick starts
  • Avoid hard braking as much as possible
  • Do not tow a trailer for the first 500 miles- your engine, axle, or other parts could be damaged.

In addition, practice the following for the first 6,000 miles:

  • Warm up the engine before operating is under load
  • Do not operate the engine at idle for extended periods
  • Prevent engine lugging by selecting the appropriate transmission gear
  • Monitor the vehicle oil pressure and temperature gauges
  • Check fluid levels frequently (Oil and Coolant)
  • Vary the throttle position at highway speeds when carrying weight or towing.

Nissan emphasizes that extended light or no-load operation will extend the time before the vehicle reaches its full efficiency. Operating in this manner could result in reduced fuel economy and power. Engine run-in is improved by operating the vehicle under load.

Should I add extra oil to my Titan during the break-in period?

It is normal to add some oil to your engine during the break-in period depending on the severity of operating conditions.

Why is a break-in period important?

Follow the recommendations on this page to attain maximum engine performance and ensure future reliability and economy of the vehicle. If you don’t, you could get shortened engine life and reduced performance.

The Reason Why Four Wheels Are Better Than Three

Why Do Cars Have Four Wheels Instead of Three?

Have you ever tried to teach someone a new way of doing something only to have them tell you, “but I’ve always done it this way instead.” Sometimes in life, we get so used to things being a certain way that we never take the time to wonder why they are that way in the first place.

Take your car for example. There are many aspects of your vehicle that have been that way for decades, without anyone questioning it, such as a wheel being used to steer, and pedals being used to control acceleration and braking. Why don’t we use switches or knobs to set our speed or activate braking? And then there are the tires on the car. Why do cars have four wheels instead of, say, three?

[Read more: How to Hide Valuables and Gifts In the Back of Your Car]

Are There Any Cars That Have Three Wheels?

Well, believe it or not, there are cars out there that have three wheels. A more recent example of this is the Polaris Slingshot, with two wheels in front and one in back. It’s meant for recreational driving primarily.

But, older examples include the Reliant Robin, produced on and off from 1973 – 2002 in the UK, and the Mazda K360, first built in 1959 as a sort of small work truck. In fact, the very first car ever made had three wheels (along with no steering wheel).

So, why don’t we have three wheels on a car instead of four? It’s a reasonable question to ask, considering there are some benefits to having three wheels. One less wheel would make the vehicle weigh less, at it would also open up the door to less boxy designs. But stability is more of a concern when you have only three wheels. Of course, this issue can be mitigated with smart engineering, but not entirely. At the end of the day, having that extra fourth wheel still is the smart option when it comes to safety. Consider AWD systems for example, where having one more wheel to dig into the road can make the different between moving along safely or slipping and sliding.

So, don’t worry. You aren’t missing much by your car having four wheels instead of three. At the end of the day, there is a reason for it, even if three wheels isn’t necessarily wrong. Be sure to check back to the Charlie Clark Nissan blog for more

The History of the Car Steering Wheel

Why Do Cars Use Circular Steering Wheels?

All of the equipment and features on your car may seem obvious now, but at some point, the decision had to be made to use that specific feature in that specific shape with that specific design. That’s exactly the case with the steering wheel. Why do cars use circular steering wheels instead of something else?

For example, why don’t we control our cars with a joystick or the yoke found in aircraft? Or, why don’t cars use a tiller, like many of the world’s first automobiles used to steer around, similar to what some boats use?

[Read more: Find out how diamonds make the Nissan Altima engine even better]

Why Don’t Cars Steer With Joysticks

Well, let’s start with joysticks. If you’ve ever used a joystick, you know that there are a range of movements. Not only can you move the stick left and right, but you can also move it up and down, as well as a combination of movements in between those four main directions.

This works great for aircraft because they need to be able to control pitch, which is the up and down movement we mentioned. They also need to be able to control roll, which is the left and right movement on the joystick. On a car, you don’t need to flip over to one side or the other and you don’t need to move up or down. You simply need to turn left or right on a flat surface. Therefore, a joystick is overcomplicated for a car.

Why Don’t Cars Steer With Tillers Anymore?

Now, the tiller is an interesting idea, and as we mentioned, many of the very first cars were operated using such a steering system. It was similar to how a boat might be steered, but even more common during the time, it was in line with how people would have been used to steering horses and horse-drawn carriages. The movement would have felt a lot like pulling the reigns on a horse to one side or another to turn.

The tiller worked OK on cars, but it still wasn’t ideal. Other steering methods that were being experimented with at the time included the steering wheel. When Alfred Vacheron used a steering wheel in the 1894 Paris-Rouen race, everyone saw its ease of use and effectiveness on display, and soon, the rest of the world was hooked on the steering wheel as the preferred method for steering a car.

How Long Is a Child Car Seat Good For?

Did you know that child car seats expire? Well, they do, and if you’re a parent it’s important to keep this in mind as your child grows older. Many car seats these days are designed to fit children of multiple ages and sizes, as well as grow along with your child, but these car seats will still have an expiration date at some point.

So, how long is a child car seat good for? Well, that really depends on the manufacturer. An estimate of 5 – 6 years is generally a good bet, but you’ll want to be sure.

Where to Find a Car Seat’s Expiration Date

The location of the expiration date may depend on your individual car seat, but generally, it will be printed on the bottom of the car seat base.

If you are currently using a car seat that you acquired used, we recommend immediately checking the date on the underside. You never know how long it was in use prior to you getting it. If you purchased the car seat new, it’s still a good idea to check the expiration. Like we said, around 5 years is a good bet, but you don’t know for sure until you check.

[Read more: How long do your car’s wiper blades last?]

Why Do Child Car Seat’s Expire?

It seems a bit odd that a child’s car seat would have an expiration date, doesn’t it? It makes it feel like it’s built out of produce and other foods or something like that. While this obviously isn’t the case, car seats are made out of materials that do expire.

Plastic in particular breaks down over time, and as you’ve seen, car seats are made mostly of plastic. The structural integrity of the car seat relies on that plastic, and if it isn’t as strong as it can be, then that affects the safety capabilities of the seat.

The metal portions can also be susceptible to rust. Even though they aren’t exposed to the elements like the exterior of the vehicle is, there could still be moisture and salt that gets through to those parts, especially if you consider all the times your toddler has spilled juice, water or snacks in their car seat.

Nissan Brand Name Origins

What Is the Meaning of the Nissan Name?

Have you ever heard a brand name and wondered where the name came from? In some cases, the name stems from the company’s founder, while in other cases the name is a completely made up word that just sounds cool. Yet, in other cases, there are some interesting origins behind the names of certain brands, and Nissan is one of them.

Searching for this online, you may have found that the name Nissan is actually a boy’s name in Hebrew, meaning “miracle.” That may be true, but5 Nissan is an automaker from Japan, so we know that’s not likely where the name comes from.

In fact, the meaning behind the Nissan name isn’t so much a “meaning” at all as much as it is an abbreviation. Actually, the name originates from the holding company Nihon Sangyo (or Nippon Sangyo), created in 1928. For stock market purposes, however, the name quickly took on the abbreviation Ni-San, or Nissan.

Nissan didn’t begin work in car manufacturing until the mid-1930s. Tobata Casting, a Nissan company, was merged with Datsun, another auto brand now owned by Nissan. In 1934, the auto parts portion of the Tobata Casting business was separated and officially named Nissan Motor, beginning production of Datsun cars in Yokohama by 1935. Nissan branded vehicles would follow.

How are tires made?

CATEGORIES

FAQ ,

Where Tires Come From

Tires are pretty interesting things when you really think about them. The material is delightfully hard yet malleable, forming a pretty amazing solution for being able to roll your vehicle effectively and smoothly over a variety of surfaces. Have you ever wondered, “how exactly are tires made?”

The general tire-making process is as follows:

  1. Ingredients are blended into a liquid mix.
  2. The “gummy rubber dough” is cooled into rubber and cut into strips.
  3. The tire itself is constructed in a tire-building machine. Steel belts, beads, ply, tread and other components are assembled into their specific locations.
  4. Finally, the tire is “vulcanized” with hot moulds in a curing press. This compresses the various parts together into one seamless whole and gives the tire its final shape. This is also where the tread pattern is applied, and all the separately built layers are fused together. The tire is transformed from a weak and sticky substance to one that’s strong and elastic.
  5. A worker trims excess rubber, and final inspections are performed to confirm the tire-shape is geometrically correct and uniform.

What ingredients are in the rubber mix?

The exact ingredients and amount of each depends on what your tire will be optimized to do. But in general, up to 30 ingredients are used, including different types of rubber, fillers, and other ingredients. The whole mix is blended together in giant blenders known as Banbury mixers. Sounds satisfying, doesn’t it?

Read More: Which Nissan models offer the Easy-Fill Tire Alert System?

What does it mean when a tire is “vulcanized?”

Vulcanize means to harden the rubber by treating it with sulfur at a high temperature. The process was invented by Charles Goodyear, with the name being derived from Vulcan, the Roman god of fire.

Does the 2019 Nissan Rogue have remote start?

Remote Start Capability in the 2019 Nissan Rogue

One of the most lusted-after features in modern vehicles is Remote Start capability. Though it’s illegal in some parts of the country, we are happily free to use remote start here in Texas. This means if you want to get your vehicle running and cooled down in preparation for your entrance, that is perfectly acceptable in the eyes of the State. You’re only limited by one thing: whether your chosen ride is equipped with the Remote Start feature or not.

The 2019 Nissan Rogue is an excellent and hugely popular crossover SUV, blending daily use practicality with off-road ability. Does the 2019 Nissan Rogue have Remote Start?

Yes! The 2019 Nissan Rogue has available remote start with Intelligent Climate Control. Remote Start comes standard on every trim of the 2019 Nissan Rogue except for the base trim. That means you’ll find standard remote start on the:

  • 2019 Nissan Rogue SV
  • 2019 Nissan Rogue SV Hybrid
  • 2019 Nissan Rogue SL
  • 2019 Nissan Rogue SL Hybrid

View Our New Nissan Rogue Inventory

What does Intelligent Climate Control mean?

Intelligent Climate Control will intelligently adjust the interior temperature of your vehicle once you remote start it. If the outside is hot (as is often the case here in El Paso), the Intelligent Climate Control will cool your interior to a comfortable level. If the outside is cold, the Intelligent Climate Control system will be smart enough to realize you probably want things toastier, and will warm up the insides.

What if I activate remote start by accident- will my vehicle be running all day?

Activating remote start will result in your vehicle starting up for just ten minutes. This prevents unnecessary waste of fuel and production of emissions. Following the remote start procedure on your FOB a second time will kick off another ten-minute period. After this one, you’ll have to cycle the ignition switch on and off before you can use remote start again.

How do I activate Remote Start in my 2019 Nissan Rogue?

Remote Start is employed by pressing the lock button on your key FOB, then, within five seconds, holding down the remote start button for at least two seconds. This ritual is complex enough that you’ll be unlikely to do it accidentally, but easy enough to be convenient and simple to remember. Alternatively, remote start can be activated through the NissanConnect Services app.

How to Open the Gas Tank on a 2019 Nissan Sentra

If you recently purchased, rented, or borrowed a 2019 Nissan Sentra, you may be wondering how to open the gas tank. Well, it’s not as hard as it seems. Let’s take a look.

How to Open a 2019 Nissan Sentra Gas Tank

To open the gas tank on a 2019 Nissan Sentra, pull the small lever with a picture of a fuel pump on it.

Where is the gas tank button on the 2019 Nissan Sentra?

To find the gas tank lever, look to the lower left of the steering wheel. Down slightly below the height of your left knee, you’ll find two small levers. One has a picture of the hood opening, the other has a picture of a fuel pump. Pull the latter, and the gas tank door should pop right open.

Once You Get That Gas Inside, You May Be Wondering: Is the 2019 Nissan Sentra a fuel-efficient vehicle?

What if the gas tank door does not open on a Nissan vehicle?

Occasionally, a gas tank door may be bent inside in such a way that it does not pop open when the lever is pulled. This is something you should look at fixing yourself by bending the metal back into a usable position, but until you do that, there is a temporary fix you can use to get the door open and fuel up.

To get a stuck gas tank door open, have a passenger (hopefully you have one of those; if not you might need a stranger) pull the fuel door lever. At the same time they pull the lever, wedge your key or other strong thin item through the fuel door crack and push the door out. If you time it right, you should be able to pop the door open.

Be warned that this may cause some further minor bending/flaking to your fuel tank door or the item you use to wedge it open (be especially careful if using your key). This should only be used as a temporary emergency method before you manage to get your fuel door working normally again.

Our Service Department is Happy to Help You Fix Your Gas Tank Door or Perform Any Other Service Your Nissan Vehicle Needs!
