Enjoy Card Games and Science Projects During the Stay at Home Order in El Paso, TX

Family Activities and Science Projects for Quarantine

According to an El Paso Times article, there are more than 300 confirmed COVID-19 cases in El Paso TX. The city health authority Dr. Hector Ocaranza asks that residents stay home as much as possible and wear a face covering if they go in public. El Paso City Council extended an emergency order that closes local bars and businesses until May 17.  Additionally, parks and recreation sites like Red Sands and Ascarate Park have been closed as a result of the stay-at-home order.

There is no denying that this pandemic has impacted all of us—violations of the stay-at-home order are punishable by fines of up to $1,000 or 180 days in jail, which makes abiding to the stay at home order the best option for all. Now that most kids are finishing their school year online, more responsibility for hands-on teaching falls on the shoulders of parents. You can go all out by setting up interactive labs, arts and crafts to teach your kids using a more creative approach. You can go into classic at-home projects like creating a homemade volcano and mixing hydrogen peroxide with baking soda to “make the volcano erupt,” or having your kids look at salt under a microscope and discuss mineral cleavages, providing a little lesson about geology. There are endless opportunities for projects you can do at home. Check out a few online resources below:

3 Reasons to Road Trip Instead of Fly

When planning a trip, one of the first details to determine is how you plan to reach your destination. In most traveling situations in the United States, the main options involve either driving or flying. There are benefits and fallbacks to using either mode of transportation, but we’re here to tell you that there are several benefits to taking a road trip over flying. Check out 5 reasons to road trip instead of fly below.

Benefits of Road Tripping vs Flying in the United States

If you’re planning a trip from one state to another (with the exception of Hawaii), you can get there by driving. Whether you’re heading from El Paso to Wisconsin or from Florida to Vermont, you can reach your destination within a few days. Let’s go over a few benefits of driving instead of flying.

Save Money

If you’re traveling with a family, whether or not you have a fuel-efficient vehicle, a few tanks of gas cost less than several airplane tickets, regardless of the destination. Additionally, you don’t have to pay extra to carry luggage or worry about navigating your way through an airport in a time crunch.

Make it an Adventure!

Sign in woods pointing arrow toward water fall

While driving from state to state, you’re destined to pass through a few exciting cities, landmarks or natural areas. Pullover and enjoy everything these places have to offer! The United States is filled with natural beauty, no matter which state you’re in. Plus, you never know, some of the most memorable moments of your trip might happen while hiking through a national park during a spur of the moment pit-stop!

Bond with Your Travel Companions

Whether your road trip lasts a few hours or several days, it’s a great opportunity to bond with the family or friends you’re traveling with. With intuitive technology like Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, it’s easy for a singalong to break out while streaming music from a smartphoneOn top of that, spending several hours with the same group of people makes conversation inevitable.

Make Sure to Schedule Service Before Your Road Trip!

Meet the Million-Mile 2007 Nissan Frontier

The Nissan Frontier is a dependable, powerful and amenity-packed mid-sized pickup truck. The 2019 Frontier received J.D. Power’s ‘Most Dependable Midsize Pickup’ award, but the dependability of the Frontier is a common trait shared between all Frontier models. One 2007 Nissan Frontier was so dependable that its owner Brian Murphy set a goal to put one million miles on it. So, can a Nissan Frontier drive one million miles? Continue reading below to find out!

Brian Murphy in 2007 Nissan Frontier

Sixty-two-year-old Brian Murphy bought his 2007 Frontier brand new and uses it for his part-time delivery driver job in the Chicago area. Each day, he drives for 13 hours and drives around 77,000 miles each year. On Jan. 27, 2020, Brian Murphy’s Nissan Frontier digital odometer stopped tracking after it reached 999,999 miles.

Which Nissan Frontier Drove One Million Miles?

Murphy drives a King Cab 2007 Nissan Frontier with two-wheel-drive, a four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission. Murphy changes his own oil every 10,000 miles and had other routine maintenance done at his local Nissan dealer.

“I had no doubt this truck would hit a million miles. It’s tough and gets great fuel economy, exactly what I need to get the job done. I change my own oil every 10,000 miles and drive carefully. Nothing major has been replaced on this truck, it’s really something.” -Brian Murphy

What parts were replaced on the Million-Mile Nissan Frontier?

After putting around 450,000 miles on his Frontier, Murphy had to replace its radiator and alternator. He had the front seat replaced after about half a million miles, and at 700,000 miles he had the timing chain replaced as preventative maintenance. Finally, at 801,000 miles, Murphy had the original clutch on his 2007 Frontier replaced. Murphy’s 2007 Frontier still has its original engine and transmission.

How are tires made?

CATEGORIES

FAQ ,

Where Tires Come From

Tires are pretty interesting things when you really think about them. The material is delightfully hard yet malleable, forming a pretty amazing solution for being able to roll your vehicle effectively and smoothly over a variety of surfaces. Have you ever wondered, “how exactly are tires made?”

The general tire-making process is as follows:

  1. Ingredients are blended into a liquid mix.
  2. The “gummy rubber dough” is cooled into rubber and cut into strips.
  3. The tire itself is constructed in a tire-building machine. Steel belts, beads, ply, tread and other components are assembled into their specific locations.
  4. Finally, the tire is “vulcanized” with hot moulds in a curing press. This compresses the various parts together into one seamless whole and gives the tire its final shape. This is also where the tread pattern is applied, and all the separately built layers are fused together. The tire is transformed from a weak and sticky substance to one that’s strong and elastic.
  5. A worker trims excess rubber, and final inspections are performed to confirm the tire-shape is geometrically correct and uniform.

What ingredients are in the rubber mix?

The exact ingredients and amount of each depends on what your tire will be optimized to do. But in general, up to 30 ingredients are used, including different types of rubber, fillers, and other ingredients. The whole mix is blended together in giant blenders known as Banbury mixers. Sounds satisfying, doesn’t it?

Read More: Which Nissan models offer the Easy-Fill Tire Alert System?

What does it mean when a tire is “vulcanized?”

Vulcanize means to harden the rubber by treating it with sulfur at a high temperature. The process was invented by Charles Goodyear, with the name being derived from Vulcan, the Roman god of fire.

What do people like about Nissan?

CATEGORIES

Just For Fun ,

The Joys of the Nissan Brand

It can be hard to shop for a new car. Not only are there many types of vehicles, but there are many brands, and it can be tough to know where to begin. To decide what’s best for you, it helps to know what a brand is known for.

So what about Nissan- what is it that makes their vehicles special? In view of their ever-growing popularity, why do so many people seem to like them?

View Our New Nissan Inventory

Proud Workmanship

The first thing to note is the all-around solid craftsmanship Nissan puts into every vehicle in its lineup. Without a name as widely-known as Honda or Toyota to fall back on, Nissan really has to deliver above-and-beyond with every offering. And they do.

Each model year, Nissan vehicles manage to innovate while maintaining what made them successful in the past. Their machines are well-constructed with high-quality materials that will withstand everyday use and abuse.

Generous Value

Nissan vehicles are also known for delivering a whole lot of car for the money. Starting MSRPs are low, while standard feature lists are long and performance stats high.

Enjoyable Performance

Nissan has a wide variety of vehicles in its expansive lineup, ensuring you can find the one that’s right for you. But no matter what you choose, you can be sure it’ll be a blast behind the wheel. Whether you want a sporty cruiser, off-road tackler, or family hauler, they will all supply a satisfying burst of driving power focused within the bounds of tight handling.

Responsible Efficiency

Even though Nissan vehicles supply satisfying power, efficiency does not take a hit. These engines do not neglect the importance of good gas mileage, bringing smiles both to your wallet and mother Earth. It’s not easy these days to find such well-rounded machines that don’t prioritize one side too heavily at the expense of the other.

Unique Styling

Nissan vehicles are also known for the unique, sporty styling they bring to the table (drawing on a variety of sometimes-unexpected influences). They manage to stay distinctive in a world of cars that can be increasingly more difficult to tell apart. The Nissan Murano, for example, despite finding itself in an increasingly crowded segment, still manages to stand out with pride.

Sporty exterior styling doesn’t sacrifice interior comfort, however. Nissan interiors are known for their roominess, intuitive design, and high-quality feel.

Forward Thinking

Nissan hasn’t been afraid to take risks, but those risks have paid off. The brand offered a subcompact before anyone else in the form of the Nissan Juke. They infiltrated a void in the high-end sports car segment with their Nissan GT-R. The Nissan Titan has carved out a place for itself with its diesel V8 engines. And the Rogue and Murano redesigns hit the timing perfectly for the crossover market boom.

Nissan is a company that’s not afraid to innovate. This is reflected in how they are constantly refining their vehicles, and are not afraid to change things up at the slightest whiff of stagnation.
