2019 Nissan Altima Changes and Release Date
For a long time now, the Altima has been a staple of the Nissan lineup. Generation after generation, the model continues to stay modern and innovative, and that won’t change for 2019 as the Altima enters its 6th generation. At the New York International Auto Show, the 2019 Nissan Altima was unveiled with exciting changes that only heighten the anticipation ahead of the model’s future release date.
So, what can you expect once you finally get behind the wheel? Well, the list goes on and on, but we’ll try to highlight some of the major changes and upgrades received by the 2019 model.

New Engine Options In the 2019 Altima
One of the most exciting changes for 2019 is the addition of two new engine options. The Altima has really never struggled to deliver power and performance, but as engineering and technology change, so to must each vehicle on the road in order to provide drivers with a world-class driving experience.
The 2019 Altima will be replacing its predecessor’s 3.5-liter V6 engine with a variable compression turbo inline 4-cylinder, a first for Nissan and something that will be capable of delivering performance that rivals V6 engines. The standard engine on the 2019 Altima, however, is a 2.5-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder direct-injection engine that not only delivers thrilling horsepower, but also provides enhancements in the areas of vibration and noise.
We also can’t forget the cherry on top, which is the available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. If you’ve been looking for a sedan that offers an all-wheel drive option, you’ve finally found one.
ProPILOT Assist On the 2019 Nissan Altima
Though we can’t get into all of the fine details regarding the changes to the 2019 model (unless you want to be reading this for the next hour and a half), there is one technological addition to the Altima that we are particularly excited about. It’s part of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, and it’s called ProPILOT Assist.
ProPILOT Assist is a driver assistance technology that can reduce the amount of input required by the driver for acceleration, steering or braking during certain driving conditions. This should provide a more relaxing and less taxing driving experience than you’re used to, which is a great thing. We also can’t forget about the Rear Automatic Braking system. You’ve probably heard of forward collision warning systems, but in this case, the vehicle can help you detect objects behind you when backing up and apply the brakes to avoid a collision if necessary.
We’ve really only touched the surface when it comes to the many exciting changes you can expect from the 2019 Nissan Altima, but there’s plenty here to have us all looking forward to its release date. So, when can you get behind the wheel? The 2019 Nissan Altima is expected to go on sale in the fall of 2018, so the wait shouldn’t be long.
