How to Help Hurricane Harvey Victims and Their Families
A natural disaster is always a very emotional event. It can’t be prevented, and all we can do is react to the reality of the situation. In the case of Hurricane Harvey, as many as 30,000 Texans have already been displaced from their homes. With so many of our fellow Texans in trouble, we at Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso have been researching how to help Hurricane Harvey victims and their families. Keep on reading to learn all about some of the organizations that could use as much as help as possible.
The mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner, began a relief fund with the Greater Houston Community Foundation, and all donations are welcome and appreciated. This organization acts a middle point between donors and a network of nonprofit groups, connecting them so everyone can come together to help in this time of need.
This organization was already dedicated to assisting in storm-related needs and recovery efforts, but their preexisting disaster relief fund and the resources within it were not prepared for the severity of Hurricane Harvey. Any donations will go towards filling the gap between the organization’s current resources and the resources they need in light of Hurricane Harvey.
Funds donated to GlobalGiving will first be put towards short-term needs such as food, water, and shelter. Once these needs have been met, GlobalGiving plans on switching its focus to addressing long-term recovery efforts.
We hope this has helped you get a better idea of how to help Hurricane Harvey victims and their families. Once of this is behind us, we would love to take you out for a test drive. There are plenty of great new Nissan models in our inventory, and we have several financing options to go with them.
