The first type of Certified Pre-Owned Nissan is for newer vehicles. The primary certification process requires that a car is under six years old or under 80,000 miles on the odometer, passes an extensive 167-point inspection, and is gas-powered only. From there, you can expect the highest quality vehicles. If they don't meet a single point of the criteria, they cannot be certified and must be treated as a regular used sale.

Electric Vehicles (EVs) have their own separate certification process, which is similar to the others. All EVs must be 100% electrically powered, under 100,000 miles or seven years since the model date, and meet specific performance standards for the battery. Almost all electric vehicles from Nissan meet these criteria and represent some of the best EVs on the road.

Certified Models and Certified Electric vehicles come with a year of prepaid maintenance included in the first year of ownership or the first 15,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Finally, for older models, Nissan Certified Select can apply if the vehicle is under ten years old and has less than 100,000 miles. Certain non-Nissan cars can receive a certified select rating.
